To qualify for national events like the USMC/USAW Junior and 16U National Championships, athletes must participate in the Montana USAW State Tournament and place in the top three of their respective weight classes. Our goal is to prepare wrestlers for success on and off the mat, instilling values of discipline, sportsmanship, and perseverance.

Athlete Development Approach

1. Foundational Skill Building
We focus on teaching fundamental techniques across folkstyle, freestyle, and Greco-Roman wrestling. Early training emphasizes movement literacy, sportsmanship, and resilience, laying the groundwork for future success.

2. Competitive Opportunities
MT-USAW offers a comprehensive competition calendar, including local tournaments, the MTUSAW Belt Series, regional qualifiers, and national-level events like the USMC/USAW Nationals in Fargo. Participation in these events provides athletes with exposure to elite competition and diverse wrestling styles.

3. National Team Pathway
Athletes who place in the top three at the state championships are eligible for the U16 and Junior National Teams. These teams receive additional training, travel support, and access to national-level duals, camps, and clinics.
